Powered by the Flex Pack/Web’s colour management technology, the high-end system comprises an eight-colour eco-solvent printer with white and metallic ink from Roland’s VersaCamm VSi series and a VersaUV with varnish to simulate finishing effects such as matt or gloss spot varnishes, embossing and textures.
Until recently, Bewdley, Worcestershire-based Oris had solely offered the smaller, table-top VersaUV LEF and LEC systems as the UV inkjet component, but the seven-strong S-Series has now been added to the bundle, offering a range of flatbed and roll printers up to 1.6m wide.
Oris managing director Steve Chappell said: “When printing onto stock, we can use Roland’s colour set with our software to detect Pantone references, including metallics, that can accurately produce colour-certified packaging proofs.
“It is the first system globally to be able to do so, and we are talking to some big players in the packaging and labelling sectors about introducing it into their operations.
“Our clients for this system are very particular about colour and brand integrity, so the free RIP which comes with the Roland machines as standard would not suit their needs. We spend a long time with our customers to make sure these systems give them the best results possible.”
Roland DG’s S-Series was first unveiled at Fespa 2018.
Its machines can print in six colours as standard and can be configured in CMYK plus white and gloss, or either dual white or dual gloss.
They use Roland’s ECO-UV inks, cured with low-temperature UV lamps allowing for print onto a wide array of both rigid and flexible substrates, including leather, wood, acrylic and paper up to 200mm in height.
Oris is now showing one of the series, the LEC-300S F200 flatbed, at its showroom in Bolton.
