Software manufacturer OneVision will host live demonstrations of its automation technologies for various print segments at Drupa, including a live first with its Stations offering.

The entire production process can be digitally mapped and monitored with Stations, according to Regensburg, Germany-headquartered OneVision. Manual activities, such as sewing, eyeletting, drilling, and picking, or machines without a digital interface, can be integrated directly into the workflow.

Employees can be guided by instructions at the respective work steps, thus reducing errors. Feedback and status updates from the single stations are displayed centrally and enable tracking of the production status in real time.

The software will be presented live for the first time at Drupa with barcode scanning and a mobile device app.

Another Drupa first from OneVision comes in the area of batching. The company said Workspace Production is a product for the dynamic creation and automated processing of print jobs.

Based on workflows and production machines as well as various job and production parameters, the software intelligently combines print jobs to ensure efficient processes and optimum utilisation of printing and finishing machines.

OneVision is also focusing on connectivity at the show. As XML-based software with REST and JDF interfaces, it said the middleware is easily connected to numerous MIS, web shops, ERPs, RIPs/DFEs as well as printing and finishing machines.

Furthermore, smooth integration and production in an end-to-end workflow will be demonstrated at two partner booths: OneVision will be represented with demo stations at the Canon Europe booth (Hall 8a, booth B41) and Horizon (Hall 6, booth F21).

At Canon Europe, end-to-end ecosystems for commercial, book, wide-format, and label printing will be shown.

Meanwhile in Hall 6, OneVision and Horizon will be demonstrating how integrating the companies’ systems and software enables fully automated bookletmaking and highly efficient book-of-one production.

“By optimising production files for post-press processing on cutting and binding systems, including automatic impositioning, commercial and book printers can save valuable production time,” said Hans Stöger, senior director of research and development at OneVision Software.

“OneVision has more than 30 years of expertise in automated PDF preparation and can be easily integrated into existing system landscapes as modular middleware.”

The integration of OneVision and Horizon provides automated processes for both file preparation and finishing systems. The optimised print files are seamlessly transferred to the Horizon iCE LiNK system via a JDF interface, making production system setup and makeready more efficient.

The integration will be on show at Drupa for both the StitchLiner series and the SmartStacker.

OneVision’s own stand at Drupa, which is taking place at Messe Düsseldorf from 28 May to 7 June, is at Hall 8a, booth A40.
