The Old Print Works, now an eco-friendly three-bedroom home, sits on a hill in Fowey, a popular Cornish tourist town once famed for its pirates.
The 160sqm home, put up for sale in late April via JB Estates, was built over two years on the site of a late 19th Century office, known as the former printworks.
While there is no evidence that the house– which is only accessible by stairs – was actually the printing site, a local survey by Capstone Archaeology found that it had been reported as a store for local printers.
The current owners reportedly had to clear the hillside of 600 tonnes of rubble by hand in the years before redevelopment: now, the timber-framed building has floor to ceiling glass windows and en-suites in each bedroom.
Sitting directly above one of Fowey’s old slipways, the house overlooks the active Fowey estuary, which comes alive in summer with yachts, dinghies, and competitive racing boats.
The house, currently a holiday let, has been fitted for eco-friendly luxury living, with air-source heat pump, underfloor heating, solar panels, and zoned thermostats, and is a short walk from Fowey town.
