ADM enhances personalisation with Kirk-Rudy inkjet tech

Advanced Direct Mail (ADM) has taken on a Kirk-Rudy Ultrajet variable data inkjet system to enhance the personalisation capabilities of its mailing output.

Installed earlier this month, the Ultrajet represents an expansion of Dudley-based ADM’s kit portfolio. It will be put to work addressing unwrapped catalogues and envelopes.

The Ultrajet was supplied by AMS Mailing Systems in Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire, which is the UK’s exclusive supplier for US-manufactured Kirk-Rudy equipment. It represents an investment in excess of £100,000 for ADM.

ADM client services director Julie Ray said: “We are delighted that the Ultrajet machine is now installed here at ADM as we were keen to invest in a machine that would enable us to further meet the evolving needs of our clients.

“The machine is quite compact and remarkably for such a powerful machine doesn't take up too much floor space. The capabilities and printing speeds are impressive. Our mailing turnaround times will be even better and perhaps most importantly the print quality of the personalisation will do justice to the high quality of our clients’ printed materials.

“We are already using this new piece of equipment and feedback from our clients has been very positive. Our investment in this Ultrajet machine demonstrates our commitment to our clients' needs and the future of direct mail.”

A high-resolution UV curable inkjet system, the Kirk-Rudy Ultrajet prints at a maximum resolution of 600dpi with speeds ranging from 91.44-182.88m/min.

Its 54mm drop-on-demand (DOD) Piezo printhead delivers selectable ink drop sizes of either 7pl or 14pl and up to four print heads can be added.

ADM’s specialities range from data insight and direct mail planning to postage and print buying, with biodegradable potato starch wrap being a key element of its offering. The main sectors it serves are memberships organisations and mail order companies, with key clients including Bravissimo, Unison and the National Trust.
