Apple Binding was formed in 1994 by Kate and Jon Luke. As Kate explains: “We were always looking for a business opportunity. Jon was a commercial diver and I was a print rep. I needed to get a book Wire-O bound and I had to wait six weeks to get the book finished. I thought there may have been a hole in the market. So we did a little research, and decided to have a go.”

Ian has worked in print finishing since he left school at the age of 16, barring a brief interlude in 1975 when he tried his hand at being a milkman, a cooked meats salesman, and a van driver, before (we’re happy to say) returning to his roots. Ian was a binding room manager at Taylor Bloxham in Leicester, prior to setting up Wigston-based Tudor Bookbinding in 1992.
