It’s a double celebration for Warwick Printing Company, which is marking both its 70th anniversary and 30 years under the current ownership. The firm was established in 1946 by Moric Schwarz, a Czechoslovakian Jew who escaped to England during the Second World War. The bulk of its early work was for the thriving Midlands motor vehicle industry. In 1974, John Young joined the firm as general manager and in 1986 he bought the business in an MBO. The firm has a favourite colour – green – and is always keen to support local events. It is sponsoring the Leamington Spa Regency Run for the third year, with a team of 12 staff running and others providing teas and coffees at the end of the race.

Its three partners – Martin Bateman, Louise Owen and Rob Blackburn – had worked together previously at a commercial printer. “We had an absolute passion to be in control of a company that worked in the smartest way possible. We truly believed that we ‘could do better’ and this is what we’ve done,” say the trio.
