Star product: Xerox iGen4

According to Xerox, the iGen4 increases productivity by 35% on its predecessor, making it the most efficient and high-quality cut-sheet digital press in the industry.

Running at 110 pages per minute, the machine handles 364x571mm sheets, up to 12 stocks in a single collated job and has a total paper capacity of around 80,000 sheets.

The press provides a range of applications from short-run static jobs to variable-data printing with publishing solutions such as the FreeFlow VI Suite and XMPie.

The iGen4 incorporates a range of new features to provide improved print quality, including sharper images and more vibrant colours.

Its auto density control uses a full-width sensor array to automatically detect and eliminate density variations and streaks while the press is running, and high-definition linearisation eliminates greyscale calibration. It also improves photo smoothness while maintaining sharp background details.

The machine also features advanced colour profiling, enabling greater colour consistency and more lifelike images. This tool adjusts colours to closely match offset printing standards. It can match the GRACoL standard and takes advantage of ICC DeviceLink Profiling.

The iGen4 also has a high-speed inline spectrophotometer in the paper path, automatically creating colour samples on target sheets, registering them for accuracy and processing the data.

In addition, it uses FreeFlow Print Server to allow the production and manage-ment of high-volume jobs.
