SAI develops Flexi software for traffic signage market

SA International (SAI) has launched new Flexi-powered software for the digital printing of traffic signage in collaboration with substrate specialist 3M.

US-based software provider SAI released the FlexiPrint Authorised 3M Traffic Edition software for design-to-output production of traffic signage this month. It is compatible with the HP 300 and 500 series presses and uses six ASTM-approved traffic signage colours.

Powered by SAI’s Flexi software, the new development was presented with the hope of allowing wide-format print companies to diversify their offering by adding traffic compliant signage to their portfolio of applications.

SAI strategic business development director Steve Ball said: “Traffic signage must comply with stringent global colour requirements, which can make production of these types of applications a daunting task.

“With pre-set 3M Traffic spot colours, this software enables users to meet these specifications. Additionally, the comprehensive yet easy-to-use solution simplifies the overall production process by eliminating the guess-work and time-consuming bottleneck of manually programming CMYK into third-party software.

“This allows users to improve workflow efficiencies and accelerate their time to market.”

ASTM establishes the international standard for traffic signage colours, and the software comes capable of generating Traffic Black, Traffic Blue, Traffic Green, Traffic Red, Traffic Brown, and Traffic Purple up to this standard.

FlexiPrint Traffic is designed to guarantee traffic colour output on selected substrates from 3M, such as Diamond Grade DG3 reflective sheeting, using HP Latex large-format printers. It allows for the automation of common preparation processes. It also includes interactive tiling and automated or manual nesting, allowing printers to optimise material usage, minimise waste, and reduce costs.

The software installs on to Windows versions seven, eight, and 10. It is available with immediate effect from SAI distributors.

Headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah, SAI develops software for more than 100,000 customers in 50 countries.

The firm recently completed a deal with Graphtec to supply three newly-created cutting software packages with Graphtec’s entire range of large-format vinyl cutters.
