Merchanting group Premier Paper has become the exclusive UK supplier of TouchShield anti-microbial film.

The self-adhesive film was developed to help create Covid-secure environments in offices, factories, retail and hospitality settings and can be used on items such as handrails, work stations, desks, and tables to create safe and clean environments.

“TouchShield is an innovative product. It can easily be applied to many multi contact surfaces and objects. Everything from door push plates and supermarket trolleys to desks and ATM cash machines, the list of areas on which TouchShield can be used is practically endless,” said Premier marketing director David Jones.

When the material was first unveiled in May by manufacturer G-Tec Paper & Film, which is part of Gardiner Graphics Group, it had been tested against the ISO 22196:2011 antibacterial activity standard, where it scored 99% bacteria protection, but it was subsequently tested to ISO 21702, which measures antiviral activity on plastics and other non-porous surfaces of anti-viral treated products.

In this second round of testing, the 103mic TouchShield WPVC70 film scored 93.41% effectiveness against an enveloped viral strain similar to Covid-19.

Premier's offering consists of the two clear matt watermarked protective films.

WPVC70 is a 103mic PVC protective film for surfaces with light curves or angles such as trolley and door handles and CPET50 is a 83mic polyester, protective film solution for flat, smooth surfaces with high impact usage including door plates, desks, tables and touchscreens.

Jones said TouchShield’s subtle watermarked logo “reassures users of another effective weapon against the spread of surface born bacteria and viruses”.
