Mutoh and Global Graphics have teamed up with a new partnership that will see Mutoh integrate Harlequin technology into its VereLith RIP.

The multi-year deal involves Global Graphics licensing its Harlequin Host Renderer to Mutoh.

Norishige Kakuno, executive engineer at the Japanese wide-format and cutting plotter manufacturer, said the new offering would deliver advanced features “that conventional RIP software does not offer such as avoiding printing jobs incorrectly by displaying a soft proof and ripped image preview, and ink cost calculation before printing”.

The new integration will be available to Mutoh customers from the beginning of November via a download service.

It will initially work on the UV ValueJet 1638UR/UH and XpertJet 461/661UF printers, and will then be extended to all Mutoh’s major models, including its eco-solvent machines.

Global Graphics is headquartered in Cambridge. The software developer’s local team in Japan worked closely with Mutoh on the integration.

Kakuno also said that the VereLith RIP would be an all-in-one RIP software “covering most features required for roll media printing as well as integrating a jig layout tool to improve usability for UV flatbed printers”, saving time and money as a result.

“The jig layout tool is just one example of the new features being offered to improve customers’ efficiency and to develop new markets,” he added.
