Mtex launches printer with built in fixation

Portuguese manufacturer Mtex Solutions (7-H26) has launched a new wide-format textile printer with in-built heat fixation.

The Mtex 5032HS is a high-speed 3.2m-wide printer which takes a 400mm diameter jumbo roll and is available for €199,000 including installation and training.

Instead of using a calendar to fix dyes, the Mtex 5032HS uses infrared technology, which Mtex said was more energy-efficient. The Mimaki-based machine uses fifth-generation Ricoh heads.

Managing director of Mtex UK, Stewart Bell, said: “You’re fixing sublimation on the fly. The machine can print flags at 120m2/hr, frontlit displays at 80m2/hr and backlit at around 60m2/hr – it’s really fast.”

Mtex has also this week launched the entry-level Mtex Blue aimed at signmakers and display graphics companies wanting to enter the market. It’s priced at €56,900.
