Konica Minolta unveiled yesterday (15 September) the latest advancement in its AccurioPress line, which it promises will have “twice the speed and double the productivity” of the 6136P.

The 272 images per minute AccurioPress 6272P, a monochrome digital press, has been designed to target commercial printers, print-for-pay services and in-house printing facilities with speeds of over 15,000 images an hour.

The 672P’s improved speed has come from the use of a tandem relay unit, the TD-502, to connect two print engines within the machine, effectively giving the output of two 6136P machines within one line.

This addition, Konica Minolta has promised, will provide double the speed and productivity, and undisturbed printing without bottlenecks or shutdowns.

The TD-502 relay unit is also available separately - meaning the 6136P can now be upgraded retroactively. Both the 6272P and TD-502 are available to buy now, but Konica Minolta declined to reveal pricing.

Malcolm Smith, category manager of production and industrial print at Konica Minolta Business Solutions UK, said the 6272P would form a key pillar in the firm’s production press portfolio.

“Many years of knowledge and global expertise are combined in the TD-502 tandem relay unit to ensure that this system fulfils customer demands in high-volume printing environments.”

Konica Minolta has added an optional Intelligent Quality Care Unit, the IQ-501, which controls registration and image quality, and can make automatic adjustments.

The 6272P can handle stock from 40-350 gsm, and of up to 324x483mm in size.
