Hollanders unveils ColorBooster DS

Dutch manufacturer Hollanders (1-G150) has unveiled the ColorBooster DS, a double-sided 3.2m-wide textile printer with integrated fixation.

The machine, which prints at up to 80m2/hr, has already been tested at four different customer sites on a range of polyester materials. The manufacturer said it would open up the market for double-sided signage as well as double-sided home decoration and fashion.

Hollanders chief technology officer Peter Hollanders said: “With dedicated ink amounts and profiling we succeed in having the exact same colour on front and back. In mirror print, or on thicker materials in a two times positive print or a total different print on front and back.”

The company said wovens could be printed and fixed in one step on the press, as with double-sided soft signage.

It claimed high-quality, double-sided coloured fabrics are now achievable at much lower production costs with this machine, which would lead to a growth in potential consumers and more creative uses.

The ColorBooster DS prints with 12 Seiko 508GS printheads per side, although it is also available with 16 heads per side. It has a variable drop size of 12 to 36pl and can print in six or eight colours, depending on the specification.

Pricing for the six-colour machine, which includes the integrated fixation and a built in climate control system, starts at €585,000.

Hollanders sales representative Jaco Kramer said: “Everyone is surprised and astonished by this machine and can’t believe it is working. A lot of companies that don’t do home décor or fashion are now seeing a completely new market opening up for them.”

The manufacturer is also showing the ColorBooster 320 at Fespa Digital. This machine, which was first shown at Fespa in Cologne last year, is designed to offer users flexible modularity that can be upgraded in the field as and when needed.

New at the show this year is the possibility to upgrade – in the field – to a stacked head configuration and a speed of 120m2/hr.

The ColorBooster 320 prints materials from 0.5m to 3.2m in width, in four, six or eight colours.
