First customers lined up for Riso T2

Riso has already secured pre-orders from a number of UK customers for its new T2 high-speed colour inkjet printer.

The T2 is billed as the fastest cut-sheet printer in the world and was on show at PrintWeekLive! last week. It uses twin print engines and prints full-colour at up to 320ppm.

It will become commercially available in the middle of the year, with the first units set to be installed in Q3 at as-yet-unnamed customers.

The price is expected to be “sub-£150k”, which Riso production print manager for the UK and Nordics Dinis Cachao described as “compelling”.

“This device will have a huge impact,” he stated. “Printing at almost 20,000 pages per hour in full-colour for that cost is compelling.”

He also highlighted the T2’s low running costs, small footprint and the fact that it does not require three-phase power as key benefits.

Cachao added: “All the transactional and DM companies are interested, as are book printers. There is a huge difference in cost and footprint compared with competing models.”

The Japanese manufacturer first previewed the T2 at Drupa 2016 alongside the reel-fed T1 model, which is set to come to market at the end of next year and can print roll-to-roll or roll-to-sheet.

“The T1 could have an even bigger impact,” Cachao added.

Existing UK customers for Riso’s production print range include Adare SEC, Imprimus, First 4 Direct Mail, Edward Thompson and Ciconi.
