Esko launches Kongsberg X Edge cutting table

Esko has added a new entry-level cutting table to its X range for the display, signage and packaging converter market.

The Kongsberg X Edge suits short-run production, sample making and a wide range of packaging jobs, signage and display work. It works at speeds of up to 30m/min and maximum acceleration of 0.3G.

The device can take materials up to 2.27x6.93m and features extra-fast tool loading, automated recognition and calibration and can be fitted with a felt or PVC underlay. It is available immediately, but pricing was unavailable at the time of writing.

According to the manufacturer the table is fully upgradeable and can handle “the full spectrum of display, signage and packaging materials: from kiss-cutting vinyls to heavy-duty milling and everything in between”.

The Kongsberg X Edge can also be used for cutting flexo plates and patches and can be equipped to produce shipping boxes for finished plates.

Esko product manager Russell Weller, said: “The Kongsberg X Edge has been specially designed to ensure there is no sacrifice in machine configuration, with all the options you would expect from the Kongsberg X Series available.

"The difference is that as your company grows, the Kongsberg X Edge evolves with you. It can be easily upgraded in terms of both speed and acceleration to ensure it keeps up with your business demands.”

He added: “The extra fast tool loading, auto recognition and calibration features are ideal for short-run jobs,” he explained, “with the added flexibility of an optional conveyor system available to support automated board and roll feeding when required.”
