EFI hits acquisition trail again with Dims! deal

EFI has continued its consolidation play in the MIS market by snapping up Dutch firm Dims!.

“Dims! is an interesting product which has multi-site, multi-language and multi-currency capabilities,” said EFI EMEA managing director, sales, Paul Cripps.

“This acquisition shows our commitment to the European market. We’re still thought of as primarily a North American company, even though our recent acquisitions are all in Europe.”

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, although EFI said it didn’t expect it to be material to its Q2 or full-year 2014 results. The majority of Dims! 30-40 staff have joined EFI’s Productivity Software group, and will remain at its premises in Lichtenvoorde, East Netherlands.

Dims! MIS software will continue to be sold and supported and will be integrated with EFI’s Fiery front end technologies. Topics relevant to Dims! users will be added to its Connect annual user conference, which will be held at the Wynn Hotel, Las Vegas, next January 20-23.

On its website Dims! claimed to have more than 10,000 users of its MIS software.

Dims! has a global customer base including Brown Printing Company (US), Burda Druck (Germany), PMP (Australia), WKS-Westend (Germany), Max Aarts (the Netherlands), Aller Trykk (Norway) and Bruns-Druckwelt (Germany).

Dims! is EFI’s third acquisition in 2014 following on from the purchase of personalised imaging software firm Direct Smile in July and French MIS firm Rhapso in April.

In recent years the firm has bought a number of rival MIS businesses globally including Rhapso, Lector, PrintLeader, GamSys, Technique, Alphagraph, Prism and Radius.
