Copytrax unveils new flexible A2 UV printer

Cambridgeshire print technology company Copytrax has launched a new A2-sized UV-curing digital flatbed printer, the Cezanne, for short-run jobs on a wide range of materials.

The new machine, which is available now for £18,750, is an affordable option for UV-cured printing on a broad range of substrates, being able to print on "everything except silicon-based materials", according to business development director Steve Woods.

The Cezanne is intended to bring UV-curing technology within the budgets of smaller operators, Woods said. "There are a lot of people looking at the flatbed market who have small screen print jobs that they are currently farming out," he said.

The Cezanne has a printable area of 600x420mm and can print on substrates or objects of up to 300mm thick.

It prints in CMYK plus white or CMYK plus white and gloss and can print at resolutions of up to 2880x1440dpi, making it suitable for "very high-end work", according to Woods.

The Cezanne is suited to a wide range of applications but is particularly targetted at producers of components, product fascias and promotional items, such as phone covers, flash drives and, with an optional rotary fixture, cylindrical items such as drinks flasks.

The Cezanne uses cold cure UV lamp technology that speeds up production as no heating process is required either before or after printing. The process also improves print durability, the company said.

The six-staff, £750,000-turnover business is expecting to generate more interest for the Cezanne in the coming months: "We're going to be showing it at Ipex next year and at the Trade Only promotional products show - those will be the real launch pads," Woods added.
