AMS unveils new envelope and packaging printer

Mailroom equipment supplier Addressing & Mailing Solutions (AMS) has unveiled its latest colour envelope and packaging printer.

The S1 is a desktop multi-purpose heavy stock printer with a print area of 215x762mm that can print full colour onto a range of items up to 10mm thick and 254mm in width.

Currently exclusive to AMS in the UK and additional to its existing portfolio, the US-built S1 can print full process colour A5 at a rate of 7,500sph. Using Memjet’s Sirius printhead technology and water-based ink, the machine can print full bleed, edge-to-edge on paper and card at up to 1,600dpi.

An AMS spokesperson said: “As well as our existing print and mailing fulfilment customers who are looking to print onto thick or padded envelopes, the printer is also aimed at suppliers who offer a service or have in-house requirements to print onto flexible packaging such as paper bags, pouches and even boxes.”

The S1, which is operated via a high-resolution seven-inch colour touchscreen display, can also print onto window substrates, making it suitable for retail industries, AMS said.

The printer features five high-capacity ink tanks that each hold 250ml of ink, which the supplier said combined with the long-life printhead ensures the cost per page to print is kept low.

The S1 will be launched at The Print Show, taking place this week at Birmingham’s NEC, and is commercial available now. AMS said the printer is available to purchase with a number of package options and that prices are available on request.

AMS provides mailroom equipment and consumables to printers, mailing houses and offices that send out postal mailshots. Its products range from envelope and label printers to folding and inserting machines, polywrapping systems and mailing software.
