EFI has unveiled a new multi pass textiles printer with what it claims is “the world’s highest real production throughput” for this kind of machine.

The manufacturer’s third new digital textiles printer launch of 2021, the Reggiani Hyper is available in widths of 1.8m, 2.4m, or 3.4m.

With an up to eight-colour configuration, the machine is suitable for high-quality production on knitted or woven fabrics and is designed with smart technology that enables it to be integrated into Industry 4.0 projects.

The Hyper is targeted at the industrial high-speed segment of the multi-pass textiles printing sector. Featuring a “superfast” carriage with 72 printheads, the machine can print two passes with production quality at speeds up to 13m/min for a 1.5m-wide roll, or up to 10m/min for a 3m-wide roll.

With the 3.4m-wide Hyper, users can print a pair of 1.5m-wide rolls in parallel, delivering a total throughput of up to 20m/min, which EFI said is comparable to some single-pass printers currently in the market.

EFI Reggiani senior vice president and general manager Adele Genoni said: “We are especially excited about filling out our portfolio with a very dependable, very fast printer that delivers greater throughput than other scanning printers.

“Thanks to a unique design for its 72 printheads – which recirculates ink up to the heads’ nozzle plate – and the legacy EFI Reggiani continuous ink recirculation system, Hyper is also a champion for uptime and reliability, maximising printer availability for production with excellent printing results.”

The Hyper runs EFI Reggiani genuine inks, which the manufacturer said ensure best performance in terms of runnability and longer printhead life, while producing “astonishing colour depth and brightness, as well as excellent fastness properties”.

The new printer is commercially available as of this month, and EFI is exhibiting it this week at the TME Exhibition Textile Machinery Fair, at the Istanbul Expo Center in Turkey.

This summer EFI also enhanced its ultra-high-speed digital single-pass textiles printer, the Reggiani Bolt.
