Canon unveils latest step forward for imagePress family

Canon is preparing its new imagePress C910 series of light production digital printers for market after unveiling them at an event in the Netherlands.

The new series succeeds the C850 family and has been developed for print service providers looking to provide extended applications with reliable media handling at higher productivity. They were first shown to attendees at the Cutting Edge showcase in Venlo, Holland, on 9-11 April.

The family consists of three models differentiated by their speed capabilities: the 70ppm C710, the 80ppm C810 and the 90ppm C910.

Canon UK national sales manager Wayne Kershaw said: “The proven technology of the C850 has helped develop the imagePress C910 series. Valuable feedback from customers and the markets Canon operates in has influenced the development of the new series.

“Quality and flexibility are key elements due to the series being positioned in a light production environment, offering greater productivity.

“From general commercial print requirements to application-specific output, such as 6pp A4 automatic duplex printing, this is a strong proposition across both graphic arts and corporate environments.”

Capable of printing on media up to 350gsm, including a range of textured substrates, the Canon imagePress C910 family accommodates a variety of applications including banner prints up to 1.3m simplex – twice the length previously achievable on the C850 – and 762mm duplex. Potential applications vary from book jackets to posters to four-fold leaflets.

Available commercially from early May, the range is designed to compete with an array of digital presses manufactured by Ricoh, Xerox and Konica Minolta.
