Vivid Laminating Technologies has added to its digital die-cutting offering as printers increasingly move to bring previously outsourced services in-house.

Sales director Richard Marlow said that the firm’s customers had consistently cited die-cutting as one of their biggest outsourcing costs, while the Covid-19 pandemic had also resulted in printers looking to diversify their offerings with additional services.

The Ashby-de-la-Zouch manufacturer has added two new VeloBlade ranges as a result.

“By extending the VeloBlade range we’re now able to provide businesses a variety of systems with different capabilities. From kiss cutting right through to 25mm, there is a system to suit every application,” he said.

The VeloBlades offers a fully-automated workflow via barcodes.

The Volta 64 (600x400mm format) and Volta 69 (600x900mm format) come in a standard configuration that has a cut depth of 2mm,  while the ‘plus’ models have the option for oscillating tools and can cut a wide range of materials up to 10mm thick.

The large-format VeloBlade Nexus has a CNC router and can handle substrates up to 25mm thick including MDF, Dibond and acrylics. It features automatic cut depth setting which “drastically increases setup and operating speed”.

The maximum cutting format is 1.8x1.6m, with larger format models available on a made to order basis.

Both the Volta and Nexus ranges can be roll- or sheet-fed and have a wide selection of tools. The devices can cut, crease and perforate in a single pass.

The new models are available immediately, and Vivid said that pricing started from as little as £100/week.

Applications range from labels, invitations and business cards to packaging, point-of-sale, engraving and indoor and outdoor signage.
