Intec has launched a new compact, low-cost automated cutter that can cut, crease, and kiss-cut labels.
The new ColorCut SC5000 device has been developed by Intec “from the ground up” based on input from printing industry customers.
The versatile cutter can handle a range of media from 140-350mic including lightweight carton board, polyesters, laminated sheets, and sheet label material.
It can handle standard media sizes from A4 to SRA3-plus and has a 900 sheet (80gsm) input media stacker.
The minimum custom sheet size is 180x279mm and the maximum is 340x520mm.
Cutting and creasing is facilitated by the dual tool cutting head which has a double-ended creasing tool and a range of cutting blades for different media types.
The SC5000 can also run unattended with a mix of jobs in the input stack, thanks to automatic cut file retrieval using QR codes on the sheet. It is supplied with Intec’s established ColorCut Pro software, which includes the SmartMark registration system for “superb accuracy”.
Intec said its ColorCut Grip and Drive dual roller system, which holds the sheet media during cutting on both sides of the cutting head, “enables the SC5000 to cut closer to the media edges than most other types of sheet cutter”, and the firm has also paid particular attention to the feeding system with the promise of “faultless feeding”.
The mobile unit also has a space-saving foldaway catch tray.
The ColorCut SC5000 is priced at £4,999 and is shipping now.
Intec expects the device to be a popular option for fast turnaround production as well as prototyping, and described it as “blending flatbed and sheetfed technologies”.
Mark Baker-Homes, Intec director of product development said: “The SC5000 is quite simply, a stunningly cost-effective automated sheet fed digital cutter, for cut-through of any shape on lightweight card, paper and even the kiss-cutting of sheet labels.”
