Canon has revealed more details about the new IJC358 UV LED inkset which it is showing for the first time at Fespa this week.
The inkset is being demonstrated on an Arizona 135 GT on stand 1-F95 in Hall 1, but it is also compatible with other Arizona machines including the 1300 and 2300 Series printers.
Canon said its “superior adhesive properties” make it suitable for industrial applications and for printing on complex materials, such as plastics, Canon said.
Additional to Canon’s portfolio, joining the existing IJC357 inkset, the company said the higher flexibility of the new ink also means it is more likely to remain adhered to the media both during the finishing processes and during the application of the finished media to a surface, such as a wall or glass.
The Greenguard Gold-certified IJC358 inkset is available in the same 800ml, 2l and 3l pouches as the IJC357 inkset and incorporates CMYK, light cyan, light magenta, and white.
Canon said that while the IJC357 inks produce a glossier result, the IJC358 inks produce a more matt finish.
Speaking at Canon’s Fespa press conference yesterday (12 October), Canon Production Printing Large Format Graphics EMEA sales and marketing director Wouter Derichs said: “This is primarily meant for a couple of applications; first of all industrial applications, because they most often require high expectations in terms of durability and scratch resistance etc.”
He added it was also suitable for POS and POP applications where “you don’t want to have this high gloss, reflecting appearance on your print; it should be matt and it should be smooth”.
Canon has also used Fespa, which is running at the RAI exhibition centre until Friday (15 October), to host a raft of live international show debuts, including the recently launched Colorado 1630 and Arizona 135 GT printers.
