Screen has produced a new blue ink designed for use on its high-end Truepress Jet L350UV+ digital label printer.

Truepress ink for L350UV Blue will be available from next month

Labelled Truepress ink for L350UV Blue, the ink has been developed in response to changing needs in corporate and product branding and increasingly higher quality demands in labelling and packaging, according to Screen.

Available as of 14 May, the ink has been specifically designed for use with the Truepress Jet L350UV+ digital label printer, which offers print speeds of up to 60m/min (in + mode) on substrates 100-350mm-wide.

It costs the same as Screen’s orange and white inks, which are generally priced 15% higher than CMYK.

Screen Europe senior vice-president of sales Bui Burke said: “The standard CMYK inkset has an extremely wide colour gamut when compared with litho offset and toner. However, there are some corporate colours that are deliberately outside of the spectrum. This is where the orange and blue options come into play.

“We have one or two occasions across Europe where this additional gamut in blue has been requested.

Inkjet has the speed, quality, reliability and increasingly acceptable cost models to be the answer. The new inks and capabilities might answer the question as to whether it is suitable for a particular business.”

With the release of this new ink, the device can now reproduce a range of blue colours and tones that were previously tricky using process colours alone, according to the manufacturer. Increasing demand from the cosmetics, toiletries and body care industries for blue tones in the product packaging branding prompted its development.

Screen Europe demonstrated the Truepress Jet L350UV+ with the new blue ink at the inaugural LabelFest Open House event at its Amstelveen showroom in the Netherlands last week.

Partners joining Screen at the event included CERM, Hybrid Software, Avery Dennison, Rotocon Europe, SEI Laser, CGS and Kurz.
