Bunt: "We want to be flag bearers for the power of print"

In collaboration with Business Cornwall magazine, the free event will take place on 11 July at St Austell Conference Centre, which is owned by and based at the same premises as the Cornish printer.

Running from 9am to 1pm, with a buffet lunch and networking following afterwards, the event will feature presentations and workshops from industry specialists, who will help attendees to ensure their printed marketing is as engaging, cost-effective and sustainable as it can be.

St Austell marketing and communications manager Matt Bunt said the aim of the event is to encourage anybody that uses or has considered using print “to use it as effectively as they can”.

“That’s part of the way that we market ourselves; we’re not just ink on paper, we want to add value to what we do and be flag bearers for the power of print, and what you can achieve.”

He added: “This is not a sales pitch. We would obviously love it if you use us for your printing but that is not the intention of the day.

“We are there to promote print and get people to understand how important it can be as part of the marketing mix. We want people to walk away from the event with actual tangible things that they can put into action immediately when they get back to their desks.”

2018’s inaugural event attracted around 60 attendees, including existing St Austell customers, design agencies, marketing professionals and publishers, and Bunt said he is expecting to see similar numbers again this year.

Speakers this year will include Sarah Wallis from Royal Mail, who will be presenting findings around the neuroscience of print and mail, and Antalis, whose representatives will advise attendees on how they can get the most out of their paper.

Other speakers will present practical advice on getting the most out of printed publications, including workshops on producing engaging press releases and tips for successful proofreading for print.

Furthermore, attendees will have the opportunity to tour the St Austell factory, where they will be able to see how the business creates its products, for clients including Whistlefish Galleries, Rick Stein, The Eden Project and The National Trust.
