Print and mail specialist CFH Docmail has been awarded a government Gold Payroll Giving Quality Mark Award following the launch promotion of its new Payroll Giving scheme.
Awarded to the 360-staff business last month, the Gold Award recognises the achievement of more than 10% of all staff signing up to the scheme and the creation of a pipeline of donations worth £47,000.
Payroll Giving allows employees to give to any registered UK charity of their choice direct from their pay on a rolling monthly basis. Donations can be ended at any time by giving the company’s payroll department a month’s notice. It is the most tax effective way to donate to good causes.
CFH Docmail group head of HR Vicky Parfitt said: “Payroll Giving is a really effective way to support staff with their charitable giving, it’s a simple and easy process to set up and it provides charities with visibility of income which helps them plan long-term projects and respond to emergencies.”
The launch promotion was run in partnership with professional fundraising organisation The Payroll Giving Team.
CFH promoted the scheme in staff newsletters and on notice boards in all of its common areas. The business rewarded the first 60 members of staff who pledged to the scheme in advance of its launch and incentives included a half-day holiday, a free lunch and entry into a prize draw. The business also match funded the first 40 donors with a £10 donation.
Furthermore, the company held events at each of its three sites in Radstock, Slough and Livingston to give all staff a chance to meet with members of The Payroll Giving Team to learn more about the scheme.
The firm’s staff donated to more than 30 different charities, ranging from well-known names including Macmillan and NSPCC through to local charities including Dorothy House and Hannah's Willberry Wonder Pony.
“We will continue to promote this throughout the various stages of the year and it will be included in our welcome pack when we get new staff enrolled,” said CFH Docmail marketing manager Hannah Coker.
“We did a huge campaign to drive it at first so probably towards the end of this financial year we’ll do another big push where there will be more prize draws to get even more people signed up.
“We’re going to try and make sure future events are as inclusive as possible of all of our sites and we’re probably going to try to team up with some of the other large employers in the area as well to try and launch it even bigger next year.”
The Payroll Giving Team client director Jacqui Abraham said: “From their Seeds of Change committee, to senior managers, CFH were very focused on their goals and put lots of time, energy and resources into making it a success.
“When our representatives visited sites to help employees sign up, everyone was already keen to talk and find out more – which is pretty rare – but also, as most are not based at a desk, communication challenges normally make this even less likely, but not in this case.
“Their whole approach worked because it was light-hearted, fun, and informative.”
