PrintWeekLive! has been awarded ‘Best Event Launch (B2B)’ at the 2017 PPA Connect Awards.
Organisers MA Exhibitions and PrintWeek took home the award at a ceremony held in London on 8 December to recognise the best events in the business media and consumer magazine sector.
“With PrintWeekLive! we demonstrated the excitement, enthusiasm and energy that print can generate,” said PrintWeek editor and publisher Darryl Danielli.
“And this award reflects the effort the whole team, in partnership with our sponsors and exhibitors, put into making PrintWeekLive! an event worthy of the print industry; one that celebrated the power of print and gave visitors access to powerful insights from industry thought leaders and the latest technology from the leading manufacturers.”
PrintWeekLive! was praised for the thoroughness of its-pre-show research, something MA Exhibitions prides itself on, as well as the quality of content, execution and customer service.
In the autumn of 2015, PrintWeek undertook a quantitative research project to discover if the UK print industry wanted a national show and, if it did, what that show would look like.
The survey was completed by 1,100 individual printers and buyers and the results clearly showed that the industry would benefit hugely from a new event, mirroring PrintWeek, but in ‘live’ form.
The organisers accordingly designed an event to inspire printers, with opportunities to learn about how to innovate and improve their businesses as well as the ability to engage directly with major suppliers at the show.
The PrintWeek team also worked closely with the marketing team, resulting in a campaign that included targeted digital and direct marketing.
“All businesses, without exception, understand that their staff is their most precious commodity and without the unfailing enthusiasm and energy of the PrintWeek team, and our own MA Exhibitions event operations and marketing teams, this event could not have taken place,” said Ed Tranter, managing director of MA Exhibitions.
The inaugural PrintWeekLive! was held at the Wasps Arena in Coventry on the 8 and 9 March this year. The show welcomed more than 2,200 visitors, many of whom were key decision-makers, from 1,000 companies.
The event combined a show floor featuring the latest technology, workshop theatres promoting best practice and a conference schedule featuring many inspirational print business leaders.
The PrintWeek team hosted every conference and workshop session, providing content of the same editorial standard as the magazine brand.
PrintWeekLive! will return to the Wasps Arena for its second outing on 7 to 8 March 2018.
