This category was no pushover. Judges heaped praise on the overall standard “but this particular one simply shone and showed simple things done well and complicated pieces produced beautifully”.

Brochure Printer Printer of the Year: Empress Litho

Beaulieu House, one of the capital’s largest private residencies, was given the full gloss treatment from a publication with details as impressive as those of the grand architecture. Soft, smooth paper for the body and tactile, rough and understated end papers proved a perfect match, while reinforced lining crepe ensured the book block was securely held together. For the David M Robinson catalogue the repro and print had to be exceptional. Jewellery was divided into silver and gold batches, each batch carefully CMYK converted with localised retouching to enhance the gemstone colours.

Highly commended
Hampton Printing (Bristol) 01275 374466

Hampton Printing almost repeated last year’s win. The brochure for the Bentley New Continental GT V8 S and GT V8 S Convertible is a coffee-table statement in seven languages. It “proved what’s possible when a printer really understands what a client is trying to achieve”, reckoned the judges.

The highest standards of processes, formats and materials can be seen in Pureprint Group brochures for Camper & Nicholson International yacht-charter company, jeweller Cassandra Goad and Buckingham Gate. “Simply stunning,” said the judges.
