ITE launches Eclipse LF350 at Ipex

The digital cutter marks a “dramatic” shift in focus for the UK manufacturer, established in 2005, from exclusively small footprint, entry-level label printing and cutting machines, to kit compatible with more industrial digital label printers.

“We’ve been stereotyped as supplying small label printers but our product range is changing quite dramatically,” said managing director Roy Burton. “We’ve seen demand from people with machines like the Epson Surepress, the Xeikon machines with VariLane, and those customers advised us they’ve been looking for a digital cutter for runs coming off those machines.”

Burton explained that the advent of software such as VariLane, which allows printers to gang jobs of different stock and size together, meant using die cutting machinery was often no longer the most straight-forward nor cost-effective method.

The LF350’s various media widths have been altered from the prototype shown at Drupa 2012 to suit this market. The media width has been increased from 330 to 350mm and the outside diameter of the lamination roll from 300 to 450mm.

The Eclipse LF350 also features double digital cutting heads and a speed of up to 10.2m per minute.

The machine will be priced between £22,000 and £25,000 and commercially available from Ipex. ITE has already allocated its first ten machines.

Also on the ITE Ipex stand will be an Eclipse LF3 digital label cutter and slitter with a cut width if 100-220mm. ITE will be showcasing its new ability to cut blank as well as registered labels.

RW-1 and UW-1 remind machines, a Compress LP4 digital label press, a Rapid D2 semi rotary die cutter and Rapid X1 and X2 printers, featuring Memjet heads, will also be on show.Impression Technology Europe (ITE) has announced a new Eclipse LF350 digital label cutter and slitter to be launched at Ipex.
