Environmental Company of the Year: Stralfors

Stralfors' entry was so impressive it could practically be used as a best practice guide to environmental printing. The judges enthused about the company's improvement programmes, with one judge commenting: "Stralfors has set itself some real environmental targets and gathered data to show some genuine improvements in performance over the past year". Stralfors' also impressed by involving staff at all levels right from their induction, thereby "making it easy for staff to understand how they can contribute and make a difference".

A winner in 2007, Cambrian Printers picks up a deserved commendation for its wide array of innovative green initiatives. Family-owned Cambrian wowed the judges with its understanding of its environmental impact at all levels.

The Guardian News & Media site impressed with its Carbon Action Plan, designed to cap carbon use through the use of CO2 goal setting, and its efforts to reduce power and water consumption to a minimum without impacting on production.

In the past 12 months, Pureprint has demonstrated consistent improvement on its own exacting standards and provided the judges with an excellent example of how to manage and measure environmental performance.
