The Cats Protection charity likes to promote its raison d’être, any hour, any day, and for help with the mission it was looking for a company to wrap a number of its vehicles with a sparkly vehicle wrap that conveys its message. In stepped Hertfordshire-based Slam Signs, hired by car dealership Robins & Day, which handles outsourcing for the wrapping.
What did you produce?
Slam picked up the contract in June 2016 and has now wrapped around 50 of the vans. It is nearing completion of the project, with around 10 more to go. It prints a number of sections for the vans and also provides the installation service.
What does the job entail?
Slam prints approximately six sections for each van, around 1.4m in width and differing in length, to cover both sides of the vehicle, the back doors and the bonnet. It uses its roll-to-roll Epson SureColor SC-80600.
Once printing is complete, which takes around a day for each vehicle, the printed sections are hung up to allow the solvent to dry properly, before being laminated using a Seal laminator and then finally installed. Slam uses 3M’s IJ180mC print wrap film material, supplied by Spandex, which Slam Signs owner David Jorge said gives “a nice glossy finish”.
What challenges have been overcome?
“The challenge was actually to provide a really good van within the budget Cats Protection wanted to spend,” said Jorge.
“We normally do full digital wraps but it was hard deciding whether to go with a cheaper media or stick with our normal 3M and go that way; that was probably a big hurdle to overcome.
“We decided it was important to offer Cats Protection a higher quality wrap. We want our name to be associated with good quality.”
What was the feedback?
Robins & Day fleet salesman Bob Kennedy said: “We’ve dealt with Slam Signs for a number of years and they’ve always been very very good quality.
“The feedback from the end user when we deliver the vehicles is good, the quality is always of the highest standard, along with the efficiency, and the end result is always very satisfying.”
