Introduction

Welcome to the annual PrintWeek Power 100

However, after 13 years we’ve revamped the format to sharpen its focus essentially on printers and buyers.

That’s not to say that the industry’s suppliers don’t have a massive part to play in the success of the industry, more that there are so many printers and buyers that warrant a place and, if I’m honest, ranking printers and their clients against kit and service suppliers never seemed entirely fair.

So this year, we’ve excluded the suppliers and instead they’re featured in a fun table generated by public vote. This drew in more than 6,000 nominations and, as well producing the suppliers’ table, also helped us to identify the 40-plus new faces who replaced them in this year’s ranking.

So thanks to everyone that voted and congratulations to Charlene Plows of Romax who won the iPod Touch that was up for grabs.

Of course, while we have changed the format, our tradition of coming up with a distinct look for each Power 100 remains – and this year our theme was inspired by comic book heroes.

We didn’t quite go the whole hog of adorning individuals in Lycra with superhero-style capes or evil genius-inspired disfigurements – much to everyone’s relief I’m sure.

But I’m also sure that when you’re reading the following pages you will probably still start imagining some of print’s power players in full superhero garb and perhaps one or two as their nemeses.

Even if you don’t, I hope you enjoy reading the Power 100 as much as we have enjoyed putting it together.
