PrintPack 2011 transpires at an interesting time. What is your view?
India’s existing print production facilities still have lots of scope for improvement and changing. Action taken at right time – now – pays in long term.

Today, the thrust of major manufacturers (Indian and international) has declined. How does one pick and choose who are the winners and the losers?
Check for manufacturers who can provide service support in long term and who innovate before time changes. Winner is the one who pre-empts the opportunity. Survival of fittest in all times is trustworthy.

We think higher raw material costs and shortages will be the main issues in 2011. Under such circumstances, what should be a good strategy for a print firm in India?
Optimise the raw material usage. Plan, stock and convert as per your targets.

Which best practices in India have impressed you?
Long term close network relations with customers has helped manufacturer to grow both in terms of technology and business. Indians are ready to embrace change and adapt themselves.

Printing is a business, and many print companies are doing their best business by delivering their print buyers what they want. Is this how it should be?
Print is creativity. Give something extra to your customer and he is yours forever – is the buzzword.

What are some examples of print firms in India that are practicing the right kind of printing, in your opinion?
Pragati Offset, Rave India, IPP, Repro, HT Media, Spenta Multimedia, Multivista Global, Gopsons, Srinivas Fine Arts, Classic Stripes, Brijbasi Art Press are some of printers who are in the right frame of printing business

PrintPack 2011, with more than 450 exhibitors has everything up for grabs.
Traditional players have transformed into pelican in the past two years vis-a vis technology and product portfolio.  New players also bring in opportunity for printers to choose the best – long term service verses technology. There will be definitely be something up for everyone. Finishing and pre-press will dominate PrintPack. Lamination will definitely be a revolution this time especially at the Daya stand.
