Xinet answers user calls for free text search in WebNative 17

Xinet has launched an updated version of its WebNative Digital Asset Management (DAM) software with a new, mobile compatible interface, expanded search capability and more automated features.

The software’s search engine enables users to view the results of a free text search in a variety of file types, including HTML, PDF and Adobe InDesign and look for items that are similar or related to the search results.

Uploader, a drag-and-drop system for sending files and folders to a WebNative Suite server, has been updated to include a distributor tool enabling users to request their own custom Uploader and download it directly from the server. With earlier versions of the software each Uploader had to be configured and distributed by an administrator.

Xinet chief executive Scott Seebass said: "The main differentiating factor is with the focus on making the production process more efficient. Some changes, such as the search function, were requested by customers while with others we looked at what our customers were spending time on and trying to automate those processes."

WebNative 17 also features an Asset Browser tool within Adobe InDesign which enables users to place items from WebNative in a layout document, while a drag-and-drop method can be used to place metadata associated with the items. The Asset Browser saves designers from having to enter data such as item descriptions, pricing and sale dates when designing products such as catalogues.

Other new features include greater automation of repetitive, manual tasks and faster creation of customised sites. The latest version of the Xinet software is available immediately and priced at $65,000 (£41,584) for new users while existing users can upgrade for free.
