Xaar opens new corporate HQ

Xaar has officially opened its new global headquarters in Cambridgeshire.
An opening ceremony held last Thursday (22 July) was presided over by chairman Andrew Herbert, CEO John Mills, CFO Ian Tichias, and general manager of the printhead business unit Graham Tweedale, alongside members of the team.
Xaar said the move builds on its recent rebrand and launch of its ImagineX platform “as it continues to focus on the development of inkjet technology for printing and manufacturing applications worldwide”.
The new, circa-700sqm leased facility is located on the Cambridge Research Park in Waterbeach, around six miles north of Cambridge. It houses Xaar’s finance, HR, legal, and marketing functions, as well as a new purpose-built R&D laboratory.
Specifically configured to enhance the working environment for the team, Xaar said the new offices also embrace its commitment to flexible working for employees.
The offices also provide a significantly reduced carbon footprint for Xaar, as it focuses on its sustainability objectives across the business.
While the new Waterbeach headquarters will contain most of Xaar’s corporate functions, the company said its Huntingdon manufacturing plant will remain a key part of its commitment to innovation, client collaboration, and embracing new market opportunities.
Mills said: “We are proud of our heritage in Cambridgeshire and our new offices will provide the best working environment to help us continue to drive the global development of industrial inkjet technology use worldwide.”
Xaar had detailed the move to Waterbeach from its previous office at the Cambridge Science Park in its results for 2020, released in April. Mills told Printweek at the time that the new building would save “about £600,000 or £700,000 a year in costs.”
Earlier this month Xaar acquired fellow UK inkjet specialist and customer FFEI in a £9m-plus deal.
