Jones started working at WPG in the 1960s as an apprentice straight from school, aged 15.

He left the business in 1979 and spent four years working at the Shropshire Star.

After returning to WPG he took up the role of production manager. Jones subsequently became co-owner of the company in 1992 together with business partner Graham Pierce, when the previous owners Alun Jones and Tegwyn Evans retired.

After heading the now family-owned business for 30 years, Jones passed away on 29 March, the day before his 73rd birthday.

WPG has grown organically and by acquisition over the years and offers a wide range of services including litho and digital printing, vehicle graphics, workwear and promotional products.

His sons Ian and Paul are joint managing directors of the company, which is located in the Welsh town of the same name, and said they would endeavour to build upon his legacy by maintaining the work ethic he instilled in them.

“Brian loved the print industry and was still a big part of WPG until the day he passed, he loved everything about print and was devoted to the company,” the brothers said.

His funeral and memorial service were held last month.
