Welbound finishing school completes placement of first batch of students

Indian post-press player Welbound India has completed placement of the first batch of students from their 'Finishing school' established in Trivandrum, within the company's manufacturing campus.

The first batch of students from Welbound Finishing School was employed by leading commercial print houses in Dubai.

"These youngsters are hardworking, career conscious and ably equipped with the skill-set required to manage modern printing resources. I have informed Welbound that I would like to recruit the entire 2nd batch students for my company," said Jalal Kabeer, the managing director of Delta Printing LLC of UAE who had placed several of the students.

"The demand for industry-ready personnel has been ever-growing especially from our customer overseas," said K C Sanjeev, managing director of Welbound India.

"The general consensus in the industry was that fresh graduates were merely theoretically competent and needed exposure before they can face the grind of the real world and this school’s objective is to prepare them for that," he added.

The school is led by K Pradeep, a veteran print technologist and uses Welbound’s testing facilities for live classes. "The three month course consists of initial observation and then specific hands-on experience with respect to workflow, software packages, chemicals, screens, plates, inks etc. are carried out along with industry best practices being taught," said Pradeep.

"The importance of communication is also emphasised and English language classes are a part of the curriculum," said Sanjeev.
