Warren outlines commitment to paper sales

Independent cartonboard and graphical board stockist Warren has underlined its commitment to the paper sector by outlining its intention to establish and develop its paper sales division across the East and West Midlands.

The new paper sales division, which has a sales team with 55 years combined industry experience, will complement the firm’s existing board sales.

It will stock a wide array of product ranges sourced from European and worldwide mills including a full range of both FSC- and PEFC-certified products.

Warren is a member of the AIMS group of companies, which consists of a number of independent paper and board merchants in the UK and Ireland. The individual members within AIMS focus on supplying their local regions, which allows them to offer a broader range of products.

The products available at Warren will include a wide range of coated and uncoated papers, digital and copier grades, and speciality products such as envelopes, inkjet reels and carbonless paper.

"Our goal is for the paper side of Warren to become renowned for excellent service levels in the same way that our board side has. We wanted to ensure that we could handle the unique demands for the paper side of our business before fully pushing it out to our target markets of the East & West Midlands," said managing director Kieran Ferguson.

"Thanks to the tremendous efforts of our team, we’re now confident of doing this. In addition to the day-to-day stock business, the team have secured ongoing paper contracts with a number of new accounts.”

Warren moved into paper distribution for the first time earlier this year following a seven-figure investment which saw it acquire board converting machinery from Reno De Medici UK’s Wednesbury plant and open a new 3,092sqm converting facility in West Bromwich.

"We wanted to be confident in our ability to service our customers in the way they’d become accustomed to with both Warren and the original Reno De Medici business. Thanks to the hard work of the staff across both West Bromwich and Leicester we now have that confidence and we’ve seen month by month increases in our business," said Ferguson.

"We’re now in the process of identifying additional products for the West Bromwich operation. Should these be added we'll be looking at taking on more staff to accommodate additional shifts. Similarly, we’re close to adding further people to our paper team with a view to increasing our sales presence in the paper market."

The ISO 14001-certified company has 39 staff and sales in excess of 20,000 tonnes per annum with a turnover of £20m. It also has five units in Glenfield, Leicestershire covering a total area of 10,684sqm and its customers include paper merchants, commercial and general printers and carton convertors throughout the UK and Europe.
