Superfast Labels has bought a Konica Minolta AccurioLabel 230 digital toner press in order to improve its fast-turnaround services.

Following print trials at Konica Minolta's Sutton-in-Ashfield showroom, the machine was installed at Superfast’s Sittingbourne premises in late December. It replaces an inkjet press that the company bought eight years ago to take it into the digital labels market.

The AccurioLabel will expand the company’s digital output further and allow it to produce labels onto a wide range of substrates.

Superfast managing director Andrew Miller said: “We presented the team at Konica Minolta with some highly challenging test files and the press passed with flying colours, so it was an easy choice to make.

“The installation only took three days, followed by two days of training, and we have been producing jobs for our customers every day since.

“Three digital presses are now on site allowing continual production across a wide range of substrates, and when combined with a fleet of GM finishing equipment, we are ready for 2020.”

The toner-based AccurioLabel 230 digital label press runs full-colour print at a speed of up to 23.4m/min with an addressable print quality resolution of 1,200dpi.

It joins a portfolio at Superfast which includes an Epson SurePress L6034VW printer installed in 2017, as well as two further SurePresses and flexo printing machinery. The company employs 19 members of staff.
