The Guildford, Surrey-based business took delivery of the machine, which was supplied by Roberts Graphics and replaced an outgoing Sakurai press, last month. The company had been a Sakurai only house since 1993.

The 44-year-old company has also recruited a second operator to run the press, which was chosen due to the Komori support network – its engineers and availability of parts.

Stag Print managing director Sushil Patel said: “It’s been a very busy start to 2023. The installation of the Komori LS29 in January, along with the arrival of our new team member, means we are full steam ahead and foresee an exciting year of growth for Stag Print.

“The machine is a huge leap in our production capability – from quality and efficiency to environmental impact. We can now cater for a much wider customer base and further increase our reach to manufacture point-of-sale boxes for the cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and bottled spirits sectors.”

The press has increased the company’s output speed by 40% and slashed its setup time from 45 minutes to 15 minutes. It has an LED UV dryer, is alcohol-free, and boasts lower energy consumption due to its faster production and setup times.

With 11 staff and a turnover of £1m, Stag Print produces an array of packaging such as boxes and sleeves for consumer products, and marketing print including brochures and leaflets for educational establishments and medium-sized businesses.

Also serving the trade and running supplementary kit including a Heidelberg Cylinder and a Moll folder-gluer, the environmentally conscious business obtains 100% of its paper and board from responsible sources, recycles all wastepaper and litho plates, and uses energy-efficient LED lights and equipment at its premises.
