The 8%- 10% increase will be effective for deliveries from 1 July 2021. In a statement, Sappi said: “The ongoing sharp rise in raw material costs, particularly pulp, chemicals and energy in combination with high freight rates make price adjustments unavoidable.”

The company said its sales team would be in contact with customers “to discuss the detail and support the implementation”.

Last week the business implemented a Europe-wide price increase on all of its woodfree coated and woodfree uncoated paper grades of 7%- 10%. First announced by the company in April, this increase followed price rises for its packaging and speciality grades, which became effective at the beginning of April.
