Roland DG adds new courses to Roland Academy

Growing demand for small-format expertise has prompted Roland DG to add two new courses to its Roland Academy training service and revamp the Academy website to improve accessibility.

The company announced the addition of new courses last week as part of the latest expansion to the Academy. They cover the use of small-format flatbed UV technology and an introduction to the CorelDraw graphics software suite.

Roland's Academy training is provided at two locations: Bristol and Walsall.

The company has also added two new 'better business boot camps' to the Academy's programme.

Roland said the small-format flatbed course was set up in response to the success of the VersaUV LEF range of printers.

Academy and creative centre manager Joe Wigzell said: “The little flatbeds have brought in a lot of customers and rather than mash it into one UV and eco-solvent course, we wanted a stronger focus.

“Many of the customers aren't print or graphics companies so don't know the market very well. We want to nurture them.”

He also said the academy had wanted to run CorelDraw training because many signage customers used the package, but had nowhere to turn for help. The CorelDraw course is intended to help printers looking to maximise the potential of their businesses with the addition of design capabilities.

Roland also added to its better business boot camp series of short, informal sessions for Roland DG users.

Boot camps equip individuals with specific product, market or application information. The new Lightbar boot camp advises on the latest solvent-UV ink technology for Roland printers, while the Material Matters boot camp drives home the importance of choosing the right materials.

Wigzell said: “These courses are more of a taster – a short burst of information on a product or market in one three-hour session that won't take up too much time.”

The company has also cut prices for its one-day courses. Visit the website for more information.
