Immediate Media is celebrating after the May issue of BBC Gardeners’ World magazine achieved record sales.

The media group, part of Hubert Burda Media, said that the title had seen newsstand sales jump by more than 21%, “helping achieve £1.44m in Retail Sales Value, a record in the entire UK Newstrade market for monthly magazines”, Immediate stated.

The May issue involved a premium pack including gardening gloves and retailed at £7.50 instead of the usual £5.

In the recent ABC release, BBC Gardeners’ World magazine recorded a combined circulation of 301,026, up 36% year-on-year.

The average circulation of the print edition is 279,193 and the magazine has 198,000 paid subscribers.

The magazine is printed at Walstead Roche.

Immediate Media’s total subscriber base passed the 1m mark last year, partly fuelled by the effects of the pandemic.
