PCS wins regional business award

Plastic Card Services (PCS) has been named Business of the Year at the 2018 Cheshire Business Awards.

The Macclesfield-based company took home the accolade following a gala dinner ceremony held at Chester Cathedral earlier this month.

Now in its 15th year, the Cheshire Business Awards are a celebration of excellence in business throughout the region.

The judges highlighted how PCS, which has 50 staff and a turnover of around £5.9m, has built up its reputation as one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of plastic cards. They also recognised the importance that the business places on ensuring every employee feels respected, valued and appreciated.

Adam Unsworth, who became managing director of PCS last October, said: “We are delighted to have been crowned winners of the Business of the Year category at this year’s awards. It is a true testament to all the hard work and dedication undertaken by each and every member of the PCS team.”

Last month PCS celebrated 25 years in business by officially opening its new 500sqm digital production facility and promoting two new members to its senior management team, including Louise Ray, who has become director of marketing and communications.

“We’ve had our best year in terms of turnover, we’ve invested £1m in our new digital plant, we’ve launched a new web-to-print website and we’ve employed more people, so it’s been a really successful year for PCS,” said Ray.

“The judges were looking for businesses that make a difference within the region and nationally. We were hopeful of winning – we were shortlisted last year but we thought this year could be it because of everything that we’ve done.

“There’s a real feel-good factor just to have everybody’s hard work recognised amongst our peers.”
