Papergraphics launches GiftWrap

Wide-format reseller Papergraphics has launched its new GiftWrap media, intended primarily for personalisation.

The new 95gsm substrate had its soft launch around three months ago but launched properly, alongside a marketing campaign, last month. It was in development for around six months prior to the soft launch.

The product can be used with aqueous, latex and curable inks and comes in widths ranging from 515mm to 1.5 metres in standard 50 metre lengths. Five metre, 515mm wide sample rolls are also available.

GiftWrap is only compatible with Canon inkjet printers and HP Latex machines. As a Canon reseller, the West Sussex-based outfit is taking the opportunity to offer GiftWrap to clients purchasing Canon printers. Papergraphics product manager Michelle Dellow said the ability of some of the Canon machines to do edge-to-edge borderless printing is ideal for GiftWrap and good in general for those in the gift industry.

“All you need is an inkjet printer, GiftWrap media, and you’ve got yourself a little business,” said Dellow.

“One of the main things at the moment is personalisation, it is very key. People like to have their own bespoke items and gift wrapping is an area where people can actually create their own design for friends and family.

“It’s not just a basic paper, it’s got a nice satin finish but the actual feel of the product is quality gift wrapped paper, rather than just a cheap matte 60gsm paper that some people use.”

Dellow added that she expects the product to sell beyond Christmas, as Papergraphics envisages the personalisation trend to go way beyond the festive season.

Last May, Papergraphics launched a digitally printable table covering substrate. Two months prior to this, it became an official reseller of Israeli manufacturer Massivit’s 1800 3D printer and Dimengel 3D printing material.

It expects to announce more product launches in the early part of next year.
