Overmatter: star quality

If you’re not glued to the telly of a Tuesday evening then why on earth not? You absolutely should be – rooting for one of print’s own, Michelle Evans-Fecci who’s flying the flag for Wales in the famous tent.

Michelle works at Tenby-based family business Trade Canvas Print where husband Ben is the managing director.

She could not have got off to a better start in the new series, being named Star Baker in week one despite two of her bakes being described as “tough” by heartless judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood. Overmatter believes this was merely a bit of misdirection by Channel 4, though, with Michelle’s carrot cake going on to be hailed as “faultless” by Prue.

As we went to press with this issue, Michelle had successfully navigated ‘biscuit week’, ‘bread week’ as well as being likened to Noel Fielding due to a similar penchant for rich black hair colour, and had continued to put in a solid performance – no soggy bottoms or disastrous collapses – and plenty of Welsh-themed flair.

A word of warning, though. Do not under any circumstances look at her @bakesbymichelle Twitter feed if you’re in any way peckish. It’s pure torture. Pob lwc Michelle!
