Overmatter: branding mish-mash

Fashion-conscious readers will be interested in news that reaches us via PrintWeek contributor Barney Cox, who spotted someone wearing a very interesting box-fresh item on a recent journey on the London Underground.

“I was on the tube home and on jumps a fashion forward looking young person in a shell suity type of thing. It’s all a bit Demna Gvasalia, and then I look at the logos on it. Kodak and Polychrome Graphics. But not (I am somewhat sad but equally proud to be able to report) anything like the actual factual corporate branding of KPG, rather some sort of mish-mash of an old Kodak logo and the Polychrome Graphics bit of the KPG branding.”

An internet search turned up the garment pictured on the Pinterest “jackets” page of Krystapher Belton, which is indeed the very thing Barney saw. Trendy young streetwear aficionados, it seems, will pay a lot of money for this sort of stuff.

If you’re keen to rush out and buy one, however, prepare to be disappointed. The link to apparent supplier Onyx Hearts leads to a defunct website.

Notes to selves: hang onto all those industry expo garment giveaways, they could be worth a fortune. Now, where did we put that Heidelberg blouson jacket from way back…
