Opus Trust Marketing to close Swindon branch

Mailing house Opus Trust Marketing has informed staff it intends to close its Swindon facility because of a declining client base.

The company has not responded to requests for information, however PrintWeek has been contacted by a number of employees claiming to have been told of the closure.

PrintWeek has seen a letter, sent out to the 25 staff at Swindon, stating that the company intends to focus its efforts on transactional mail and electronic services.

It said: "You will be aware of the decline in the client base in Swindon in recent years and in particular non-transactional services.

"The investment required in retaining and developing the ability to serve our clients in these markets is significant. Unfortunately the investment that would be required to bring the Swindon site up to this standard is not justifiable.

"Therefore, we have decided to concentrate on the provision of these services from a single site in Leicester. As a result we have taken the difficult decision to close the Swindon site and we are now beginning the process of immediate consultation with our staff."

PrintWeek understands that 18 production and three client services staff are being made redundant, while two IT specialists have been offered positions at the Leicester site.
