New year predictions: Peter Jolly, Duplo UK

Duplo UK managing director Peter Jolly doesn’t want much for Christmas, well, it’s not much assuming that chancellor George Osborne has finally found his magic economy fixing wand anyway.

What’s at the top of your Christmas wish list?

A gift-wrapped, sustainable and prosperous economy (with a bow) please.

What trend (business or technology) do you think 2013 will be remembered for?

Print playing to its strengths. Creating the ‘wow-factor’ again with some fantastic advances in packaging, POS and book publishing for example.

What do you think will represent the single biggest opportunity for printers in 2014 and why?

Bringing more capability in-house to enrich the applications available to their clients.

What do you think will represent the single biggest threat for printers in 2014 and why?

Standing still.

What’s the one thing that the industry should do more of, or do better, in 2014?

Sell the power of print as one unified industry. Putting aside competition, for the greater good of our fantastic and creative sector.

What was your highlight of 2013?

Easy, London Calling 5i at Somerset House, our best yet.

What are your hopes for 2014?

Move our customer satisfaction rating from 4.87 to 5 out of 5.

What was the most important thing that you learnt in 2013?

Rather than spend hours in the boardroom talking internally; just ask our customers. They normally have the right answer and a lot of time can be saved. My customers drive my strategy.

What does the industry need to do differently in 2014?

Share best practice.

What will you be having for your Christmas dinner?

Whatever my brother-in-law is cooking!

Are you making any New Year's resolutions? If so, what?

Keep my office tidy. I will continue to make this resolution every year until it happens.
