Renz (UK) has taken on an apprentice: Ross Blackwood will join the company to complete a two-year BPIF Level 3 business administration course.

The start of Blackwood's apprenticeship coincides with the opening of Renz (UK)'s new head office in Luton on 1 September, where he will be based. He will undertake a training programme delivered by industry trade body BOSS/BPIF, of which Renz (UK) is a member. He will be mentored by Renz (UK) sales office and marketing manager Stephen Partington who joined the business himself straight from school as a 16-year-old.

Blackwood will be expected to learn about all aspects of the business. Among his duties will be monitoring the progress of customer orders, inputting sales orders, assisting the sales team with enquiries, liaising with customers and monitoring stock levels for the purchasing department. He will also assist with managing all aspects of the multiple Amazon platforms on which Renz has a presence.

Renz (UK) managing director Iain Bullock said: “We are proud to be able to offer this great opportunity to a student keen to join the industry after sixth form. We are delighted to welcome Ross to our new Luton head office that spearheads our modernisation programme following 23 years of trading in Hatfield Park.

“We are a small tight-knit company that looks after our staff. We have employees who joined straight from school with limited academic qualifications in the past who now hold senior positions and have over 15 years’ service.”

Dominic Wing, higher & degree apprenticeship manager, BOSS/BPIF, added: “Having spoken with Iain we both felt there was a fabulous opportunity for the right person to succeed at Renz (UK). BOSS, with partner BPIF Training, were delighted to support Iain during the recruitment process and are very happy to be working with Renz (UK), a BOSS member, to deliver the apprenticeship training programme.”

Blackwood said: “I am looking forward to joining Renz (UK) and becoming part of the team. I am passionate about finding ways to improve myself and am excited to start this apprenticeship and my working life.”

The BPIF is the largest supplier of apprenticeships to the UK printing industry.
